Our lives are shaped by our experiences, and the road we choose is determined by the places we've been. This is particularly true for Kent Franklin, Owner and President of M. Kenton Franklin, Inc. A fourth-generation home builder, building homes is second nature to Kent. Starting his building career at a young age along side his father Morris, has given him years of hands-on construction training.
Urethane foam is sprayed into the ENTIRE wall cavity not just around the doors and windows. This seals all penetrations, electric boxes, joints and seams. This creates a vastly superior air infiltration and insulation system and makes air infiltration virtually nonexistent.
The crawl space walls and floor joist band boards are also sprayed to allow no airflow between floors and provide crawlspace insulation that won’t wick moisture or come loose as in batt insulation or glued on panels.
This foam not only provides an additional insulation R-value of 6.8 /inch but also provides a complete air infiltration barrier.
This is just another example of how we try to use the finest products available to give you a superior quality new home.
Tufcon Plastered Wall System
What you don’t see!
Tufcon Plastered wall systems are a vastly superior wall finish system that provides a seamless, very smooth wall system. There are no nail holes or taped seams to show thru from light reflection like you would see in a drywall wall system. You will not find this quality of wall finish system in other builder’s homes. There are also many beautiful ceiling and wall textures available.
Thoughtfully Designed Garages
Each garage features floor drains to collect melting snow or ice. Also makes it easy to wash the car or garage out whenever you want. Wood grain pegboard line the garage walls to provide unparalleled storage space. If the plan allows, we build the garage ceiling joist system so we can install a pull down attic stairs for extra storage convenience.
Warranty
We offer a 2-10 warranty as a standard feature on our homes in order to provide additional peace-of-mind to our homeowners. This warranty provides a two year systems coverage and ten-year structural warranty.
No Squeaks, No Creaks
Most Builders sub-floors are glued to the floor joist but our subfloor is glued not only to the super straight engineered I- Joist system but we glue ALL the subfloor tongue and grooved edges to each other AND both nail and screw the subfloor to the joist . This creates an incredibly stiff smooth and silent subfloor to attach, ceramic, hardwood or carpet to.
Custom Storage Options
We use a professional closet company that allows you to meet them at your new home, walk thru and custom design the fully adjustable shelving systems in all closets. You can create the design that is needed for each room, whether it is for little children, your owner’s closet or a hobby room, the choices are yours. Wall mounted, they leave the floors unobstructed for ease of cleaning and offer more storage options
Interior Sound Deadening
What you don’t see!
Walls between bathrooms and bedrooms where they back up to activity areas are filled with sound deadening insulation before the Tufcon plaster board is installed. This helps eliminate a large portion of sound transmission from one room to another.
Anderson Windows
Anderson 400 series windows are a premium quality wood window with a vinyl maintenance free exterior cladding, coupled with LOW-E glass for energy efficiency and incredibly tight weather stripping for virtually no air infiltration. These windows are a great compliment to all the other energy efficient features included as standard features in our homes.
Full House Surge Protection
What you don’t see!
Whole house electric surge protectors are built directly into the electrical panel. These cover the entire electrical system in the home (plugs, appliances, inside and out) not just a few plugs scattered throughout the house.
